During the French Revolution, the cloister and abbey church of Val Richer were destroyed. Thirty Louis XIV stalls from the abbey church were reused in the Saint-Jacques church in Lisieux, now known as Halle Saint-Jacques.
Other pieces of furniture were dispersed to neighbouring parishes. 14340 Saint-Ouen-le-Pin
In 1836, the derelict buildings were bought by historian and politician
François Guizot. Several times minister, then president of the council, he was looking for a residence in his constituency of Lisieux

buildings and landscaped a park. Le Val-Richer is the home of the descendants
of François Guizot
